Marc Laforet began his career at the age of 8. After earning a gold medal at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatory, he entered the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM), where he completed the advanced cycle of studies.

 

In 1985, he won the “Young Concert Artists International Auditions” in New York. That same year, he received several prizes at the International Frédéric Chopin Competition in Warsaw: The Silver Medal, the Radio and Television Prize for the best performance of the Mazurkas, and the Audience Prize. Crowned with these distinctions, Marc Laforet embarked on an international career, becoming a guest of prestigious orchestras, giving numerous recitals, and appearing at major festivals.

 

A recognized interpreter of Frédéric Chopin, Marc Laforet had the privilege of giving a recital in the composer’s former home on Place Vendôme in Paris, on the evening of the 150th anniversary of his death. His discography includes several acclaimed recordings of Chopin’s works.

 

Since 2003, he has been the director of the classical music festival “Les Grands Crus Musicaux” and also serves as the artistic director of the “Dimanches Musicaux” concert series at the Théâtre de Passy in Paris.

 

He holds a piano class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot and regularly gives masterclasses in Europe and Asia.
