Jean-Philippe Collard

Specialised in French music for piano and with a discography of over 60 records to his name, Jean-Philippe Collard has been travelling the world for many years in order to share his passion.

From a large, music-loving family, Jean-Philippe Collard left his native Champagne region very young to attend the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. At sixteen he was unanimously awarded the Conservatory's First Prize diploma, and subsequently he has won many others: the first prize at the Long-Thibaud Competition in 1969, then the first prize at the Cziffra Competition in 1970.

He plays with the most prestigious French and foreign orchestras, performing a wide repertory of musical works with talent. From the French National Orchestra to London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and, among others, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Montreal’s Philharmonic Orchestras, Jean-Philippe Collard has left his mark on the international scene. He collaborates with the greatest conductors such as Michel Plasson, Georges Prêtre, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Semyon Bychkov, James Conlon, Simon Rattle and Seiji Ozawa.

Artistic Director of Les Flâneries Musicales de Reims since 2011, he founded the Académie de musique française pour piano (French Music Academy for Piano) in 2016.

Jean-Philippe Collard is also a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Legion of Honour.
