As founding director of Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida, Larry Rosensweig built an institution that is highly respected in both the museum and Japanese garden communities.

At 17, Larry first connected with Japan as a Rotary Exchange student in Sendai where he earned a black belt in judo and his first certificate from UraSenke in tea ceremony. After graduating from Harvard, he worked in Hiroshima for a company that shipped Mazda vehicles and parts. During his two years in Japan, Larry traveled extensively – from Sapporo to Kagoshima and almost everywhere in between.

For Morikami Museum, Larry organized and led tours of Japan for museum donors regularly from 1981 to 1998. After leaving Morikami, he has organized and led four tours of Japan privately.

Larry served as President of the North American Japanese Garden Association. He is former Chair of the Palm Beach County Cultural Executives Committee and former Chair of Florida Association of Museums Foundation.

Larry earned an M.A. in Japanese Studies from University of Michigan and A.B. cum laude in East Asian Languages & Civilizations from Harvard University. In 2005, Larry was decorated by the Japanese government with the Order of the Rising Sun.
