Sébastien Bertaud
Born in Bordeaux in 1982, Sébastien Bertaud began dancing at the age of six.
In 1997, after one year at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), he joined the Paris Opera Ballet School. Three years later, graduating top of his class, he entered the Paris Opera Ballet, where he has since performed in all the major classical and contemporary productions.
Noticed by guest choreographers at the Paris Opera, he has notably worked with Pina Bausch, Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Jérôme Bel, and Wayne McGregor.
On July 12, 2024, after a 24-year career, Sébastien Bertaud bid farewell to the stage as a Sujet of the Paris Opera Ballet in Bluebeard by Pina Bausch.
Alongside his career as a dancer, he has created more than twenty choreographic works in collaboration with prestigious cultural institutions such as the Rome Opera, the Palais de Tokyo, and Villa Medici.
A graduate of the Master’s program in Arts and Politics at Sciences Po Paris, holder of the French State Diploma for dance teaching, and a Master’s degree in Cultural Organization Management from Paris Dauphine University – PSL (July 2023), he now focuses on cultural management.
