Sie fahren von Valletta, der Hauptstadt von Malta und ehemaligen Hochburg des Ritterordens, nach Sizilien. In Taormina bummeln die Besucher durch die Gassen zum beeindruckenden antiken Theater, einem Wunderwerk der Akustik, vor dem Hintergrund des majestätischen Ätna.
Die Reise geht weiter nach Montenegro, wo Sie in Tivat, einer Stadt mit Blick auf die Berge der Bucht von Kotor, Halt machen. In dieser Stadt, die im 14. Jahrhundert von Venezianern und Österreich-Ungarn gegründet wurde, können Sie die authentische Altstadt entdecken oder die wunderschönen Strände genießen.
Gegenüber liegt die Insel Hvar, die bekannteste und beliebteste der Adriainseln. In Stari Grad hallt das Echo der Vergangenheit wider. Die Ebene der vor 2400 Jahren von den Griechen gegründeten Stadt hat ihr ursprüngliches Landwirtschaftsystem aus Weinbergen und Olivenhainen bewahrt. Aufgrund dieser Beständigkeit zählt sie zum UNESCO-Welterbe.
Danach fahren Sie zur UNESCO-Welterbe-Stadt Dubrovnik, die mit ihren Befestigungsmauern ihren Beinamen „Perle der Adria“ alle Ehre macht. Gut geschützt innerhalb der Wehrmauern, mit ihren typischen terrakottafarbenen Dächern, besticht die Stadt mit charmanten Palästen, Klöstern und Brunnen.
Die von den Griechen gegründete Stadt Trogir gilt als die schönste mittelalterliche Stadt Dalmatiens und zählt zum Welterbe der UNESCO. Rab, die kleinste Insel des Kvarner-Archipels besticht durch ihre unberührten Wälder und wilden Buchten, aber auch durch ihre starke mittelalterliche Vergangenheit, von der militärische Befestigungsanlagen aus dem 4. Jahrhundert vor unserer Zeitrechnung zeugen.

Kid Explorers
During your cruise PONANT offers an activity programme for children aged 4 to 13 years on all our ships, and from 6 to 13 years on board Le Commandant Charcot.
Every day a team of activity leaders organises creative activities (crafts, painting, etc.), fun educational workshops, board games, introduction to meditation sessions and more, as well as activities specific to the cruise itinerary and number of participants.
There are also activities ashore to prolong the experience for your Kid Explorers such as walks and treasure hunts .
The activity programme is available every day. (The precise times will be provided by animators). To best meet your needs, the schedule is adapted to fit in with your cruise programme. For more information, contact the team organising the activities.

Every child receives a welcome kit with gifts enclosed.

We organise educational activities focused on the environment for the younger generation and general public, with support from scientific partners and the French Ministry of National Education. Die vollständig zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärte Hauptstadt Valletta erstreckt sich über eine Halbinsel im Nordwesten von Malta. Vom Tritonbrunnen bis zum Fort St. Elmo biete die Stadt ebenso vielen majestätischen Straßen wie treppenförmig angelegten Gassen. Die farbigen Loggien und die verzierten Erker der hohen Wohngebäude begleiten Sie bei Ihrer Entdeckungstour, die selten von Autos gestört wird. Besichtigen Sie den mit Wappen und Fresken geschmückten Großmeisterpalast. Die St.-Johannes-Kathedrale sowie die seit dem 16. Jh. die Stadt schützenden Wehrmauern gehören auch zu den bedeutendsten Bauwerken der Stadt. Die in Terrassen angelegten Gärten von Barraca verleihen Ihrem Rundgang eine grüne und blühende Note.

Der an der Ostküste Siziliens in der Provinz Messina gelegene Badeort Taormina gilt als Saint-Tropez der Insel: Kulturerbe, lauschige Strände und Luxus-Shopping haben sich hier vereint. Sie können das 300 Meter über dem Wasser befindliche mittelalterliche Zentrum besichtigen, dessen Terrassen einen freien Blick auf das Mittelmeer eröffnen. Ein weiteres Zeugnis der Vergangenheit der Stadt sind die Ruinen des griechisch-römischen Theaters. Diese äußerst gut erhaltene Stätte zieht Besuchern an, die von der natürlichen Schönheit des Ortes oberhalb einer türkisfarbenen Bucht fasziniert sind.

In der Region Apulien gelegen, ist Otranto die orientalischste der italienischen Städte. Hinter den mittelalterlichen Befestigungsanlagen genießen Sie die Dolce Vita des Salento, des „Absatzes des italienischen Stiefels“. Otranto existiert seit der Antike und ist heute zu einem sehr angenehmen Badeort geworden. Sie können jedoch die Geschichte wiederentdecken, indem Sie durch die Gassen der Altstadt streifen. Die Kathedrale mit ihrem herrlichen Mosaikfußboden aus dem 12. Jh. zählt zu den schönsten Kleinoden. Die Eleganz von Tivat beruht größtenteils auf der Schönheit des Jachthafens, Porto Montenegro, der viele einflussreiche Persönlichkeiten anzieht. Die Hafenpromenade, die von einer Reihe von Palmen gesäumt ist, gegenüber der Bucht von Kotor, sorgt für eine Kulisse mit einzigartigem Charme. Die Stadt wurde im 14. Jahrhundert erbaut und nacheinander von den Venezianern und Österreich-Ungarn regiert, bevor nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg das jugoslawische Königreich gegründet wurde. In ihrer Altstadt, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt wurde, steht die Geschichte im Mittelpunkt. Vielleicht sind Sie von den Abmessungen der Hauptpromenade, derPlaca, erstaunt. Ihre Breite kommt daher, dass sie eine ehemalige Lagune bedeckt. Die Gebäude, die sie säumen, sind aus elegantem Travertin. Primosten ist eine malerische Ortschaft an der dalmatinischen Küste südlich von Sibenik, deren Charme in engen Gassen zwischen hübschen Steinhäusern und von der Venezianischen Republik beeinflusstem Architekturerbe liegt. Die historische Stadt war auf einer felsigen Halbinsel gebaut und durch eine mobile Brücke mit dem Festland verbunden. Daher erhielt sie im 16. Jahrhundert ihren Namen: Primosti bedeutet auf Kroatisch "überbrücken". Die Kirche Saint-Juraj wacht als höchster Punkt der Stadt über die zauberhafte Bucht mit glasklarem Wasser, und im Norden der Halbinsel ist der hübsche Strand Raduca zwischen Azurblau und Pinienwald zu entdecken. In der Ferne runden die mit Steinmauern vor der Erosion geschützten Weinberge des berühmten Rotweins Babić die idyllische Kulisse ab.

Diese kleine Insel in der Kvarner-Bucht bezaubert durch ihre Authentizität. Deren auf die adriatische Antike zurückgehender Name bedeutet „bewaldetes Land“ in Anspielung auf den Kiefern-, Zypressen- und Korkeichenwald, der den Hauptort umgibt. Letzterer heißt wie die Insel Rab. Sie haben hier die Gelegenheit zur Entdeckung einer Architektur venezianischer Inspiration, ein Erbe des Mittelalters, wie der Kampanile bezeugt. Weiter unten ermöglichen Ihnen die Befestigungsanlagen weite Ausblicke auf das ganze Küstengebiet und seine menschenleeren kleinen Buchten.

Stolz und unvergänglich herrscht Venedig seit dem 6. Jh. über ihre Lagune. Man glaubt, sie zu kennen, bevor man überhaupt ihren Boden berührt hat. Dennoch erliegen Sie unweigerlich dem Charme der unzähligen Schätze der „Serenissima“: Markusplatz, Basilika, Dogenpalast, Canal Grande und die Gondeln. Sie möchten sicherlich auch ein weniger bekanntes Venedig entdecken, sich in dem Gewirr aus Gässchen und Kanälen verlieren, die Plätze besichtigen und hinter die Türen der Kirchen schauen. Das außergewöhnliche Kulturerbe sollte Sie aber nicht vergessen lassen, Ihre Gaumen rund um ein Glas Spritz und einige Tramezzini zu verwöhnen.
Taormina & Greek Theatre
From the pier, you will be transferred by coach to the ancient Greek town of Taormina, a 30-minute drive.
Called Tauromenium in ancient times, Taormina clings to the side of Mount Tauro and offers superb views, splashed with the vibrant colours of bougainvillea and oleanders, of the Mediterranean Sea, Isola Bella and a snow-capped Etna in the background.
A maze of narrow streets, stairs and tiny squares, Taormina has attracted many civilisations over the centuries. It is home to theatres and a gymnasium from the Greek period, an Odeon and baths from Roman times, buildings blending Arab and Norman cultures, traces of Byzantine, and villas belonging to European aristocracy in the 18th and 19th centuries.
You will start your excursion with a visit on foot to the historic centre. You will cross the famous Corso Umberto to discover numerous monuments from several eras, and admire Porta Catania, the Cathedral, Piazza IX Aprile and Palazzo Corvaja.
You will then arrive at Teatro Antico, a theatre built by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC, and almost completely rebuilt by the Romans who created a gladiatorial arena. The theatre is the second largest in Sicily after the one in Syracuse. Due to its size and acoustic quality the theatre is still used to host festivals and concerts. Seated on the stone terraces, the audience can enjoy the concert while admiring a breath-taking panoramic view of the sea, Mount Tauro and Etna.
After your visit, you will enjoy a refreshment at a local bar and some free time.

Ascent of Mount Etna
Leave the landing pier by coach for the drive to Rifugio Sapienza, about 6,000 ft above sea level, on Mount Etna.
Mt. Etna is Europe’s largest active volcano, the slopes soar up to over 9,800 ft and the flanks are covered with scores of cones and craters. From there you will be able to gaze out across the Catania Gulf and view the woods, orchids and vineyards from the vantage point. But, of course, the major attractions are the crater and the remnants of the awe-inspiring streams of lava.
From there and with the assistance of a professional alpine guide, you will continue by cable car to 7,500 ft and then by special 4x4 minibuses to reach the basis of the main crater at about 8,800 ft above sea level. Up there and still accompanied with your guide, you will be able to go nearer to see last lava flows.

Since this excursion involves walking at high altitude (9,800 ft – 2 900 m), participants should be in excellent physical condition. Bring a sweater or a jacket as it can be very chilly and windy, and wear sturdy walking shoes. A supplement of €10 per person will be applied if less than 10 persons want to realize the tour. Sicilian cooking class with Mrs Consoli
From the ship, you will reach the pier by tender. From here, you will board your coach for a 45-minute drive through the small town of Naxos, founded by Greek colonists in the 8th century B.C., and then drive to Catania by motorway.
Once in Catania you will walk to the centre, where the most ancient and typical markets await you. With the assistance of a local expert, you will discover local products like vegetables, fruits, and fishes, used in Mediterranean cuisine. Enjoy the wealth of colours and the Sicilian folklore.
You will then reboard your coach and drive to Viagrande. Situated on a hill on the slopes of Mount Etna, this village was made famous in “Nedda”, the first novel from Sicilian writer Giovanni Verga. However, this village is also known for its vineyards and especially for its gastronomic traditions.
Upon your arrival, you will proceed to the typical 18th century Sicilian home of gastronomic journalist Eleonora Consoli, la “Cucina del Sole”. Author of several books on Italian and Sicilian cooking and recipient of numerous awards, she established this cooking school, where her daughter, Monica, is now continuing the family tradition and hosting guests.
Join Monica in the kitchen, where you will enjoy learning how to make dishes that are inspired by old Sicilian recipes making use of vegetables, citrus fruits, and different aromas. You will participate in preparing your own meal and have the pleasure of eating it fresh on the terrace (weather permitting).
After lunch, re-board your coach for the 1-hour return drive to the pier.

Mount Etna & Gambino winery visit
From the pier, you will board you coach for a drive up the winding roads that work their way along the slopes of Mt. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe.
Your tour begins with a drive through the small town of Naxos, which was found by Greek colonisers in the 8th century B.C., and then pass the town of Giarre and the villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana en route. Your destination on Mt. Etna is the Crateri Silvestri area, which features a collection of inactive craters that originated during the massive eruption of 1892. From here, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Catania and vineyards.
After taking time to appreciate the power of this site, continue to the Gambino Winery, owned by Raciti Gambino family and located on the northern foothill of Mt. Etna. Here you will visit the vineyards and the wine cellar.
After the visit, you will enjoy a typical Sicilian lunch and sample several of the winery’s finest vintages. It's a delightful experience that will leave you with an even greater understanding and appreciation of Sicilian flavours.
Finally, you will board your coach for the return drive to your ship.

Lecce - Florence of southern Italy
Stroll around Lecce, the “Baroque Florence”, and discover the countless churches, palaces and monuments carved out of this soft and almost golden limestone that gives the city a glowing look, like the chubby cherubins that decorate its façades.
A veritable open-air museum, Lecce is a microcosm of Baroque splendours. The cherubins, gargoyles, plant patterns, columns and capitals, each more extravagant than the last, are legion here - to the extent that the city lays claim to its own style, the “Barocco Leccese”. It has to be said that the sculptors and architects of the 16th and 17th centuries had a field day with the regional stone, a marvel of malleability and delicacy.
During a guided tour, discover its Roman heritage on the Piazza Sant’Oronzo, where the palazzos, church and Roman amphitheatre dating from the 2nd century try to outdo each other with their beauty. Then head off to explore the Centro Storico historic centre. Its cobbled streets and shady squares are teeming with incredible rococo treasures, including the Basilica of Santa Croce – with a constellation of sublime ornaments -that you will able to visit, and the Governor’s Palace whose façades you will admire.
A few metres away, the Piazza del Duomo, in spectacular golden monochrome, proudly displays a cathedral, its bell tower and the archbishop’s palace, making it one of Italy’s most beautiful squares. The exploration of the city centre ends with some free time to discover the city at your own pace, before getting back on the bus for Otranto.

Start your tour with a drive to Hvar, a small and charming town located around a natural port and undoubtedly one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Dalmatian coast.
During your walking tour, you will admire splendid landmarks such as the Cathedral, the ancient Arsenal, and various palaces, all bearing witness to the rich history of Gothic and Renaissance art.
After this short stroll, board your coach and head towards Stari Grad to visit the Hora Estate. Also known as Hora or Ager, the Stari Grad Plain is an exceptionally well-preserved testament to the Ancient Greek period, earning a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008.
In the heart of the plain stands Agroturizam Pharos, one of the few buildings in the area, where the Žuvela family continues the agricultural traditions of the Ancient Greeks. Spanning 32,000m², this working farm is a true oasis of heritage and organic produce, far removed from the beaches and the bustling coastal towns. You will have the opportunity to discover farm animals, organic food, and locally produced wines, while enjoying a taste of the most traditional Dalmatian cuisine.

Walking on Ston walls & oyster tasting
From the pier, board your coach for a 1-hour scenic drive along the Adriatic Road toward the town of Ston.
Ston was built according to the plans approved by the Dubrovnik government in 1335 and amended in 1370 and is considered one of the best planned and best structured cities in Europe. The walls of Ston were a massive architecture and construction feat. Originally 7,000 metre long (22,965 ft.), they consist of several parts; the Ston city walls, the Mali Ston city walls and the Big wall with its three forts. Its forts and towers are strengthened by 10 round and 31 square flanking towers, as well as 6 semicircular bastions. It took almost four centuries to finish these complex defence walls, as the builders had to adapt to the rough terrain and advancements in warfare technology. The walls were last used for defence in the 19th century, and today they are a priceless monument of immense architectural and cultural value.
Once arriving at Ston’s walls, you will start your hiking passing distance of almost 900 meters over demanding terrain with more than 250 steps before joining your coach for a ride to Mali Ston, the 'oysters capital' of Croatia.
Upon arrival in Mali Ston, you will board a local boat which will take you to oyster and mussel beds. Your host will welcome you on board and introduce you with oyster & mussel farming in this area. You will have the opportunity to learn about the oyster & mussel production as well as to taste freshly prepared oysters & mussels including mussel buzara (mussels cooked with wine, garlic and olive oil).
Finally, re-board your coach for a 1-hour return ride back to Dubrovnik along the old historical road passing through the old villages of Dubrovacko Primorje.

Elafiti Islands by speedboat and lunch
From the pier, you will board a speedboat and start a 30-minute scenic cruise along the walled city towards the Elaphite Islands.
You will sail along the Elaphite Islands discovering this preserved natural beauty with its cliffs and sea caves. This tiny archipelago, full of history and legends, has been inhabited for many years.
You will visit Kolocep Island, the closest to Dubrovnik. Kolocep, the smallest of the three main Elafiti islands, is covered from east to west with a pine forest whose branches descend to the surface of the sea. Here, you will enjoy a refreshment before sailing to Lopud Island.
The “middle” island of the Elafiti trio, Lopud is home to just over 200 people although is considered the most developed of the three islands. This island houses many ruins from all periods.
Enjoy lunch served in front of the sea, then you will have 2 hours of free time to stroll or relax on a beach.

Medieval Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, despite a devastating earthquake in 1667 and the ravages of many wars, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Begin your walk with a stroll along Dubrovnik's Stradun, a wide pedestrian way lined with shops and cafés and a remarkable number of historic buildings and monuments. At its western end, you arrive at the Franciscan Monastery whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites of the city. The Monastery houses the oldest pharmacy in Europe, and third oldest pharmacy in the world, founded in 1317. It is still active and still offers salves manufactured according to recipes passed from generation to generation.
A short walk from the monastery brings you to the Cathedral of the Assumption. Built in the 18th century on the ruins of a church destroyed in the 1667 earthquake, its design is surprisingly simple. But it is a treasure trove of gold and silver reliquaries and several priceless paintings, including a polyptych over the main altar of the Assumption of the Virgin by Titian.
As you make your way back to the pier, your guide will point out some of Dubrovnik's most important cultural monuments — Sponza Palace, identifiable by its gallery of arcades, the Church of Saint Blaise, built in 1715 in Baroque style, and the richly detailed Onofrio Fountain, fed by an aqueduct built in the 15th century that brings potable water to the city from a spring 7 miles away.
The final visit of your tour is at the Rector's Palace. This Gothic-Renaissance structure overlooking the harbor is now a cultural history museum that tells the story of Dubrovnik when it was the capital of the proud Republic of Ragusa, a maritime power that rivalled Venice through much of the later Middle Ages.

Embark on a unique discovery of Primošten by paddle. Upon your arrival at the pier, a short walk will lead you to the starting point of your stand-up paddle excursion. Before heading out, your instructor will introduce you to the equipment and navigation techniques.
Then, paddle along the picturesque shores of Primošten's old town, enjoying stunning views of its cobbled streets and enchanting coastline. After this immersive experience on the water, a short walk will allow you to return to the pier.

Krka waterfalls
Discover the natural wonders of Krka National Park, a true gem of Croatia. A natural frontier between northern and central Dalmatia, the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea at Šibenik, carving through a breathtaking landscape.
On its journey, the river drops 45 meters in a series of 17 natural waterfalls, forming a lake before narrowing again to create the majestic Skradinski Buk.
From the pier, board your coach for a one-hour scenic drive to the Lozovac entrance. Upon arrival, you will discover Skradinski Buk, the park’s largest waterfall, surrounded by traditional mills and washhouses.
A visit to the ethnological museum will immerse you in the fascinating history of the park, which has become a natural sanctuary for a wide variety of animal and plant species over the years. You will also have the opportunity to explore the old watermill, where cereals are still ground using water-powered millstones.
After enjoying some free time to take in the enchanting scenery, you will re-board your coach for the return journey to Primošten.

Drive to Dingli Cliff for a photostop brefore Mdina visiting. Then, proceed to Mdina - Malta's Old Capital. Mdina is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city, with its extraordinary mix of medieval and Baroque architecture.
Continue with the visit of Palazzo Parisio, a unique 19th century palace in the heart of the Mediterranean. Palazzo Parisio is not only another palace of the legendary Knights of St. John, but the ultimate memorial of ambitions, aspirations and pretensions of a 19th century noble family. It houses two baroque walled gardens, including a lovely orangery - a miniature Versailles.
Enjoy a small snack in the Palace.

Day 1 – Valletta

Day 2 – Valletta
Set off from your hotel with a local guide and start your day by visiting Mdina. Take a stroll through the Silent City’s narrow streets and visit the Mdina cathedral and fortifications. Mdina, Malta’s Old Capital, was used as a filming location for the movie Black Eagle, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, and for the Game of Thrones series. With its extraordinary mix of medieval and Baroque architecture, Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city.
You will then proceed to a local boutique winery, where wine is produced on an estate comprising four hectares of terraced vineyards. It was built with weathered limestone blocks that perfectly blend old-world charm with practical, modern architectural touches. About 15,000 vines are planted on this estate, along with around 200 olive trees plus fig trees, carob trees, and other indigenous Maltese flora. After the visit, you will have the opportunity to taste three fine wines.
This will be followed by a fine meal at a local gourmet restaurant.
You will then be transferred to the port in time for embarkation onboard your ship.

From the pier, you will be transferred by coach to the ancient Greek town of Taormina, a 30-minute drive.
Called Tauromenium in ancient times, Taormina clings to the side of Mount Tauro and offers superb views, splashed with the vibrant colours of bougainvillea and oleanders, of the Mediterranean Sea, Isola Bella and a snow-capped Etna in the background.
A maze of narrow streets, stairs and tiny squares, Taormina has attracted many civilisations over the centuries. It is home to theatres and a gymnasium from the Greek period, an Odeon and baths from Roman times, buildings blending Arab and Norman cultures, traces of Byzantine, and villas belonging to European aristocracy in the 18th and 19th centuries.
You will start your excursion with a visit on foot to the historic centre. You will cross the famous Corso Umberto to discover numerous monuments from several eras, and admire Porta Catania, the Cathedral, Piazza IX Aprile and Palazzo Corvaja.
You will then arrive at Teatro Antico, a theatre built by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC, and almost completely rebuilt by the Romans who created a gladiatorial arena. The theatre is the second largest in Sicily after the one in Syracuse. Due to its size and acoustic quality the theatre is still used to host festivals and concerts. Seated on the stone terraces, the audience can enjoy the concert while admiring a breath-taking panoramic view of the sea, Mount Tauro and Etna.
After your visit, you will enjoy a refreshment at a local bar and some free time.

Ascent of Mount Etna
Leave the landing pier by coach for the drive to Rifugio Sapienza, about 6,000 ft above sea level, on Mount Etna.
Mt. Etna is Europe’s largest active volcano, the slopes soar up to over 9,800 ft and the flanks are covered with scores of cones and craters. From there you will be able to gaze out across the Catania Gulf and view the woods, orchids and vineyards from the vantage point. But, of course, the major attractions are the crater and the remnants of the awe-inspiring streams of lava.
From there and with the assistance of a professional alpine guide, you will continue by cable car to 7,500 ft and then by special 4x4 minibuses to reach the basis of the main crater at about 8,800 ft above sea level. Up there and still accompanied with your guide, you will be able to go nearer to see last lava flows.

Since this excursion involves walking at high altitude (9,800 ft – 2 900 m), participants should be in excellent physical condition. Bring a sweater or a jacket as it can be very chilly and windy, and wear sturdy walking shoes. A supplement of €10 per person will be applied if less than 10 persons want to realize the tour. Sicilian cooking class with Mrs Consoli
From the ship, you will reach the pier by tender. From here, you will board your coach for a 45-minute drive through the small town of Naxos, founded by Greek colonists in the 8th century B.C., and then drive to Catania by motorway.
Once in Catania you will walk to the centre, where the most ancient and typical markets await you. With the assistance of a local expert, you will discover local products like vegetables, fruits, and fishes, used in Mediterranean cuisine. Enjoy the wealth of colours and the Sicilian folklore.
You will then reboard your coach and drive to Viagrande. Situated on a hill on the slopes of Mount Etna, this village was made famous in “Nedda”, the first novel from Sicilian writer Giovanni Verga. However, this village is also known for its vineyards and especially for its gastronomic traditions.
Upon your arrival, you will proceed to the typical 18th century Sicilian home of gastronomic journalist Eleonora Consoli, la “Cucina del Sole”. Author of several books on Italian and Sicilian cooking and recipient of numerous awards, she established this cooking school, where her daughter, Monica, is now continuing the family tradition and hosting guests.
Join Monica in the kitchen, where you will enjoy learning how to make dishes that are inspired by old Sicilian recipes making use of vegetables, citrus fruits, and different aromas. You will participate in preparing your own meal and have the pleasure of eating it fresh on the terrace (weather permitting).
After lunch, re-board your coach for the 1-hour return drive to the pier.

Mount Etna & Gambino winery visit
From the pier, you will board you coach for a drive up the winding roads that work their way along the slopes of Mt. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe.
Your tour begins with a drive through the small town of Naxos, which was found by Greek colonisers in the 8th century B.C., and then pass the town of Giarre and the villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana en route. Your destination on Mt. Etna is the Crateri Silvestri area, which features a collection of inactive craters that originated during the massive eruption of 1892. From here, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Catania and vineyards.
After taking time to appreciate the power of this site, continue to the Gambino Winery, owned by Raciti Gambino family and located on the northern foothill of Mt. Etna. Here you will visit the vineyards and the wine cellar.
After the visit, you will enjoy a typical Sicilian lunch and sample several of the winery’s finest vintages. It's a delightful experience that will leave you with an even greater understanding and appreciation of Sicilian flavours.
Finally, you will board your coach for the return drive to your ship.

Lecce - Florence of southern Italy
Stroll around Lecce, the “Baroque Florence”, and discover the countless churches, palaces and monuments carved out of this soft and almost golden limestone that gives the city a glowing look, like the chubby cherubins that decorate its façades.
A veritable open-air museum, Lecce is a microcosm of Baroque splendours. The cherubins, gargoyles, plant patterns, columns and capitals, each more extravagant than the last, are legion here - to the extent that the city lays claim to its own style, the “Barocco Leccese”. It has to be said that the sculptors and architects of the 16th and 17th centuries had a field day with the regional stone, a marvel of malleability and delicacy.
During a guided tour, discover its Roman heritage on the Piazza Sant’Oronzo, where the palazzos, church and Roman amphitheatre dating from the 2nd century try to outdo each other with their beauty. Then head off to explore the Centro Storico historic centre. Its cobbled streets and shady squares are teeming with incredible rococo treasures, including the Basilica of Santa Croce – with a constellation of sublime ornaments -that you will able to visit, and the Governor’s Palace whose façades you will admire.
A few metres away, the Piazza del Duomo, in spectacular golden monochrome, proudly displays a cathedral, its bell tower and the archbishop’s palace, making it one of Italy’s most beautiful squares. The exploration of the city centre ends with some free time to discover the city at your own pace, before getting back on the bus for Otranto.

After this short stroll, board your coach and head towards Stari Grad to visit the Hora Estate. Also known as Hora or Ager, the Stari Grad Plain is an exceptionally well-preserved testament to the Ancient Greek period, earning a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008.
In the heart of the plain stands Agroturizam Pharos, one of the few buildings in the area, where the Žuvela family continues the agricultural traditions of the Ancient Greeks. Spanning 32,000m², this working farm is a true oasis of heritage and organic produce, far removed from the beaches and the bustling coastal towns. Walking on Ston walls & oyster tasting
From the pier, board your coach for a 1-hour scenic drive along the Adriatic Road toward the town of Ston.
Ston was built according to the plans approved by the Dubrovnik government in 1335 and amended in 1370 and is considered one of the best planned and best structured cities in Europe. The walls of Ston were a massive architecture and construction feat. Originally 7,000 metre long (22,965 ft.), they consist of several parts; the Ston city walls, the Mali Ston city walls and the Big wall with its three forts. Its forts and towers are strengthened by 10 round and 31 square flanking towers, as well as 6 semicircular bastions. It took almost four centuries to finish these complex defence walls, as the builders had to adapt to the rough terrain and advancements in warfare technology. The walls were last used for defence in the 19th century, and today they are a priceless monument of immense architectural and cultural value.
Once arriving at Ston’s walls, you will start your hiking passing distance of almost 900 meters over demanding terrain with more than 250 steps before joining your coach for a ride to Mali Ston, the 'oysters capital' of Croatia.
Upon arrival in Mali Ston, you will board a local boat which will take you to oyster and mussel beds. Your host will welcome you on board and introduce you with oyster & mussel farming in this area. You will have the opportunity to learn about the oyster & mussel production as well as to taste freshly prepared oysters & mussels including mussel buzara (mussels cooked with wine, garlic and olive oil).
Finally, re-board your coach for a 1-hour return ride back to Dubrovnik along the old historical road passing through the old villages of Dubrovacko Primorje.

Elafiti Islands by speedboat and lunch
From the pier, you will board a speedboat and start a 30-minute scenic cruise along the walled city towards the Elaphite Islands.
You will sail along the Elaphite Islands discovering this preserved natural beauty with its cliffs and sea caves. This tiny archipelago, full of history and legends, has been inhabited for many years.
You will visit Kolocep Island, the closest to Dubrovnik. Kolocep, the smallest of the three main Elafiti islands, is covered from east to west with a pine forest whose branches descend to the surface of the sea. Here, you will enjoy a refreshment before sailing to Lopud Island.
The “middle” island of the Elafiti trio, Lopud is home to just over 200 people although is considered the most developed of the three islands. This island houses many ruins from all periods.
Enjoy lunch served in front of the sea, then you will have 2 hours of free time to stroll or relax on a beach.

Medieval Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, despite a devastating earthquake in 1667 and the ravages of many wars, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Begin your walk with a stroll along Dubrovnik's Stradun, a wide pedestrian way lined with shops and cafés and a remarkable number of historic buildings and monuments. At its western end, you arrive at the Franciscan Monastery whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites of the city. The Monastery houses the oldest pharmacy in Europe, and third oldest pharmacy in the world, founded in 1317. It is still active and still offers salves manufactured according to recipes passed from generation to generation.
A short walk from the monastery brings you to the Cathedral of the Assumption. Built in the 18th century on the ruins of a church destroyed in the 1667 earthquake, its design is surprisingly simple. But it is a treasure trove of gold and silver reliquaries and several priceless paintings, including a polyptych over the main altar of the Assumption of the Virgin by Titian.
As you make your way back to the pier, your guide will point out some of Dubrovnik's most important cultural monuments — Sponza Palace, identifiable by its gallery of arcades, the Church of Saint Blaise, built in 1715 in Baroque style, and the richly detailed Onofrio Fountain, fed by an aqueduct built in the 15th century that brings potable water to the city from a spring 7 miles away.
The final visit of your tour is at the Rector's Palace.
