This cruise can include activities such as zodiac outings and landings (sometimes with "wet landings"), moderate walks to more active hikes, all accompanied by naturalist guides.
Ports of call, visited sites, outings and landings will depend on weather conditions, winds and the state of the sea. These can force a change of plans at any time. The Captain and the Naturalist team may at any time cancel or stop any activity, or even modify the itinerary. The final itinerary will be confirmed by the Captain, who will take into account the touristic quality of the sites and above all, the safety of the passengers. His decision will be based on advice from experts and authorities.
Travelling to isolated regions is an exhilarating experience. In remote areas, please remember that you are far from modern hospitals with full medical facilities, thus evacuation is extremely expensive. Without adequate medical coverage, all expenses will have to be immediately paid with your personal funds. We urge you to subscribe to full coverage insurance, choose your insurance company very carefully, be extremely vigilant and ensure your insurance is fully comprehensive, especially if you are insured by your credit card. Ideal clothes for life on board:
During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. When moving about in the public areas of the ship and the decks, light but comfortable shoes are recommended.

In the evening, you are advised to wear smart-casual attire, especially when dining in our restaurants where wearing shorts and tee-shirts is not allowed.

Officer’s evening:

During the cruise, two gala evenings will be organised on board. Thus, we recommend that you bring one or two formal outfits.

A small shop is available on board offering a wide range of outfits, jewellery, leather goods and many accessories.

All our cabins have a safe. We recommend not to go ashore with valuable jewellery.

Der Corcovado-Nationalpark liegt in Costa Rica auf der abgelegenen Osa-Halbinsel. Er umfasst 42.000 Hektar und ist damit der größte Nationalpark des Landes. Er beherbergt den größten Primärwald an der Pazifikküste des amerikanischen Kontinents und ist eines der wenigen Gebiete der Welt, das noch von tropischem Tieflandregenwald bedeckt ist.

Mit dem Zodiac® fahren Sie zu den Stränden des Nationalparks Manuel Antonio, einem der natürlichen Schätze Costa Ricas. Der kleine Park mit einer Fläche von nur 16 km², der seit den 1970er-Jahren unter Schutz steht, ist von den paradiesischen Stränden des Pazifiks umgeben und beherbergt eine enorme Artenvielfalt. Auf den langen Wegen oder bei einer Pause am Strand können Sie den Regenwald entdecken, in dem es vor Leben wimmelt: er wird von Faultieren, Brüllaffen und Panama-Kapuzineraffen bevölkert. An den feinen Sandstränden, die von üppig bewachsenen Hügeln und Kokospalmen umgeben sind, können Sie mit den frechen Waschbären auf Tuchfühlung gehen, die blitzschnell von den Bäumen herunterklettern, um Besucher zu necken.

Im Süden der Halbinsel Nicoya liegt das kleine Naturreservat Curù, der älteste geschützte Nationalpark Costa Ricas. Es ist ein Vorbild für den Ökotourismus und ein Forschungszentrum für Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt. Das Reservat steht seit den 1930er-Jahren im Zentrum eines originellen Projekts für die Erhaltung der Natur und die nachhaltige Entwicklung. Nach einer kurzen Fahrt mit dem Zodiac können Sie auf den Pfaden durch den tropischen Regenwald, die zu herrlichen Stränden führen, die berühmte Tierwelt Costa Ricas entdecken: Affen, Leguane und mehr als 200 Vogelarten sind hier zuhause. Der Hellrote Ara (Ara macao) und der Klammeraffe wurden erst vor kurzem wieder ausgewildert.

Day 1 - San José
Meet at the airport in the Arrival hall. Look for PONANT sign. You will be greeted by our local English-speaking representative off the flight selected by PONANT or any other flight (provided that you have previously communicated your flight schedule to your travel agent).
You will then be transferred by coach to the Gran Hotel Costa Rica 4*.
Check-in.

Day 1 - San José
Meet at the airport in the Arrival hall. Look for PONANT sign. You will be greeted by our local English-speaking representative off the flight selected by PONANT or any other flight (provided that you have previously communicated your flight schedule to your travel agent).
You will then be transferred by coach to the Gran Hotel Costa Rica 4*.
Check-in.
Dinner and rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2 - San José/La Fortuna
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
After a 1-hour transfer, you will begin your day of visit with an enriching experience in a coffee plantation. You will dive into an insightful journey through the coffee-making process, gaining firsthand knowledge from passionate experts. Delight in a guided tour through the verdant coffee plantations and witness the meticulous care that goes into cultivating the finest beans. Following the tour, savour a typical Costa Rican lunch at a local restaurant. Indulge in local flavours, experiencing the country's gastronomic heritage firsthand.
Later, step into the captivating world of a local crafts factory in Sarchí, renowned for its heritage as an artisan town in Costa Rica. Prepare to be enchanted by an authentic and immersive experience, where tradition comes to life.
Your visit unfolds within the rich ambiance of the workshop, where the skilled craftsmen meticulously craft traditional ox carts, known as carretas. Marvel at the artistry and precision involved in each step of this time-honoured process, preserving a cultural legacy that spans generations. As you explore the grounds, breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the connection between craftsmanship and the natural beauty that inspires it.
You will then depart to your next destination, La Fortuna. The charming town of La Fortuna lies at the foot of the active, perfectly iconical Arenal Volcano, near Lake Arenal.
Check-in in your room at the Tabacon Resort & Spa 5* and time at leisure. Finish off your day with a relaxing soak in one of the hot springs, your favorite cocktail in hand.

Day 3 - La Fortuna
After breakfast, you will embark on an invigorating adventure with the Arenal 1968, situated amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of Arenal in Costa Rica. Immerse yourself in the natural wonders that surround the estate and offer a captivating blend of scenic beauty and outdoor exploration.
Your day begins with a thrilling hike along the well-maintained trails, leading you to the Mirador (viewpoint) that unveils panoramic vistas of the iconic Arenal Volcano. Although the volcano has been almost inactive since 2010, it is still the highlight of the region, especially on sunny days when you can see the giant in all its amazing splendor. Traverse through lush rainforests, where the vibrant flora and fauna create a mesmerizing backdrop to your journey. The trail is designed to cater to various fitness levels, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all.
A carefully curated picnic-style lunch awaits you surrounded by the sounds of nature and the fresh mountain air at this scenic place. Indulge in a delectable meal amidst the natural beauty, creating a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.
You will then be transferred to your hotel to enjoy some free time and to relax in its hot springs.
You will continue your day with a sensory exploration of chocolate in the heart of a local organic farm. Engage in a delightful chocolate tasting where various forms and preparations reveal the rich nuances of this ancient treat. Learn about the art and history of chocolate, unlocking the secrets of its divine essence.
Following the chocolate tasting, your adventure will continue with a hands-on class that will teach you to prepare a typical Costa Rican dinner. Day 4 - La Fortuna/Puntarenas

Travel with peace of mind as PONANT organises your daytime between your port of disembarkation and the airport.
Puntarenas
After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local representative.
You will take the road for about 2h30 to reach the La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park, one of the best place to see wildlife in Costa Rica. It features five beautiful waterfalls and the largest animal sanctuary of the country.
You will be able to see birds, butterflies, monkeys, hummingbirds, snakes, felines and frogs, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of a lush tropical rain forest.
Lunch will be served in one of the reserve's restaurant.
After a guided tour of the park and some free time (if time allows it), you will be transferred to the airport in time for check-in for the PONANT selected flight (1h travel time).

Please note :
- Kindly note that a minimum number of participants is required for this activity to proceed. As a result, both the price and itinerary may be adjusted based on the final number of participants. Should the minimum number not be met, we will offer you an alternative arrangement.
- Please avoid open back sandals and flip flops and bring closed toed walking shoes or sneakers. The trails are all paved, so you won't be walking on natural unmaintained hiking trails.
- We recommend you to wear comfortable clothes because the waterfall trails are quite intense with lots of steps.
- As respecting the environment is important to us, we highly recommend you take your filled Ponant water bottle with you after your cruise, so you can use it on shore and avoid the use of plastic bottles whenever it is not strictly necessary.
