The museum was created in 1958 by Knud W. Jensen, who commissioned architects Wilhelm Wohlert and Jørgen Bo to spend a few months walking around the property to decide how a new construction would best fit into the landscape. This study resulted in the first version of the museum consisting of three buildings connected by glass corridors. Brändaholm is considered to be Sweden's most picturesque and beautiful community garden. It is a picture-postcard example of Sweden's idylic way of life.
